Our heart here at ‘Aware…the social design project’ is to see Fair Trade everywhere, including uniforms.
A sad fact is that at present no school uniform is Fairly Traded. The great news is that this is about to change, as a new Australian company called ‘Change Threads’ have partnered with ethical Indian cotton farmers and garment producers to provide Fairtrade certified cotton uniforms. What’s impressive is that they are price and quality comparative to whats currently available on the market, the difference being that their product is produced without exploitation.
If you would like to tell your school and/or workplace that Fairtrade uniforms are an ethical and viable option, please contact us or ‘Change Threads’. We can then send you a template letter and/or resources to help you educate your workplace about how this great company can make your uniform Fairtrade.
Furthermore, if you are a business or school in the Hunter/ Lake Macquarie or Newcastle area, ‘Aware…The social design project’ (whom is an official agent for ‘Change Threads’) can consult with you to discuss how you could change your threads into fair trade uniforms.
