When we say our products are about social design ="when a scarf is so much more than a scarf!".

When you purchase a scarf, beanie or gloves from us its not just a scarf. It is:

* Employment for marginalized women.

* Training in knitting, leadership and women’s rights.

* Its improving the social design of our world!

This is archived as everyone involved in the creation of these products will benefit from having a fair income from their craft and that they will be proud of what they have achieved. 

When you wear one of these products you are directly contributing to creating a life of dignity and worth. You are what we call at "Aware... the social design project" a global hearted person. Its one thing to care about the neighbours you can see whom are suffering, it is extraordinary when you choose to help someone you can't see. It takes a big heart and amazing compassion. 

The women whom makes these items have given themselves a name :Puka Phallcha. This name means red gentian, a wildflower that flourishes nearby to where they live.  It symbolizes the beauty of the Peruvian women and her resilience in the face of daily hardship ("I LOVE this!!!!!! and think of it every time I wear my scarf" - Yvie ).

Around 45 women in the village and surrounding areas in the Andes near Cusco, are involved in knitting and crocheting. The trading scheme that sells their items globally has opened up new opportunities for women to earn much-needed extra income. The have formed their own registered association and are looking to open their own shopfront. They are growing and learning with dignity and confidence. 

This improvement is created by us  choosing to purchase things that improve the social design of our world. The scarf or mitten from this range is a poetic metaphor for the global love we have for humanity and a REAL means of showing this love to the makers directly.
